Sanctioning Statement

The USSA ProStar Series is a member organization and ISR affiliate which sanctions and promotes the sport of ice oval snowmobile racing. The Board of Directors of the USSA ProStar Series is charged, by its members, to sanction and secure ice oval racing venues for members. The ProStar Cup Tour, run under the umbrella of the USSA ProStar Series, is a North American ProChamp ice oval series designed to determine the best of the best in the USA and Canada.

The ProStar Series brings a full two-day race show to United States based venues. While on site, the USSA ProStar Series sanctions the race weekend by providing registration, timing and scoring, insurance, paddock control, announcing, race control, flagging, tech inspection, points, and season end awards. A venue contracts with USSA to provide (sanction) all the listed services. If a venue does not contract with USSA for sanctioning services, it is NOT a USSA ProStar Series race. Racers are free to race wherever they choose, but only USSA sanctioned races count toward the end of the year points and awards.

Because the ProStar Cup Tour competes in both the USA and Canada, it is run in a different format. When the Tour competes at a USSA sanctioned weekend event, all the Tour logistics are handled internally. When the Tour schedules a stop at a race not under USSA control (Canada, East Coast, etc), there are specific Tour parameters the venue/promoter must agree to. The venue/promoter is notified of these parameters well in advance of the event. If the venue/promoter can not or will not meet the parameters, the Tour date will be cancelled or relocated.

The USSA ProStar Series is an organization determined to race. Understanding there are several other sanctioning bodies and independent race organizations, scheduling conflicts will always exist. Our members deserve the right to race at a venue under the sanctioning control of their own organization. As a member driven body, USSA will continue to pursue safe racing venues for the sport of ice oval racing.
