Ice oval snowmobile racing is an exciting action-packed event and something that intrigues kids the first time they get a chance to see it in person. The upcoming USSA ProStar Series race at the Wausau 525 track on January 23 and 24 will be just such an event.

The USSA series will bring in the nation’s top ice oval racers with sleds reaching speeds in excess of 90 mph on an all-ice surface. The partnership USSA has experienced with Ralph Merwin and the 525 facility has always been based on bringing new faces to the sport while supporting the local communities. The 2021 event will be no exception.

The USSA ProStar Series, in conjunction with the Wausau 525 event has donated 30 weekend tickets to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin. With kids under the age of 12 admitted free of charge, this will allow as many as matches to attend one or two full days of racing at the Wausau facility. Beth Kohnert, executive director of BBBSNCW said, “This donation could not have come at a better time. Our matches are always looking for safe, fun activities to do that are outdoors; but in Wisconsin Winters that can be hard to find. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin appreciates the USSA ProStar Series and the Wausau 525 for giving our Littles an opportunity to experience a community event that they may not otherwise have been able to attend.”

In discussing the ticket donation, USSA Director of Competition, Bob Richardson stated, “We are excited to offer these tickets to the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Ralph and the 525 Group along with the entire USSA organization are excited to share our sport with young members of the community. Racing can often serve as a good diversion for some of life’s current challenges. If we can help, we want to help.”

The guests from BBBSNCW will be offered private tours of the race facilities and a chance to meet drivers from several of the premier classes racing at the Wausau event. Racing is scheduled to start each day at 9:30. Tickets are $15 per day or $25 for the weekend and are available at the gate.
