Sincere Sympathy to Stan Hayes wife and family

USSA wishes to extend our sincere sympathy to Stan Hayes wife, family and his snowmobile racing family which is exceedingly large.

Stan was one of George Hayes sons, and of course many know that George was instrumental in founding USSA back in the late 60’s.

Stan was the winner of the First Eagle River Snowmobile Derby, and from the young age major win, went on to become dominant in oval racing, cross country racing, enduro, and in the years it ran, successfully competed in the Haricana event in Canada, most of it contested in the wilderness for 1500 miles or more. The normal Stan Hayes style and manner was portrayed in that event, with Stan extending aid to another racer in the wilderness, not caring that he may jeopardize his chances to win the monumental event.

Stan’s racing brands consisted of Polaris, Mercury, Ski Doo, and John Deere in numerous events. Always successful, no matter the brand or the discipline.

Stan’s engineering prowess was defined in every project he took on whether racing or product-based manufacturing in his tenure at John Deere.

Stan also was an integral part of the H3BI performance shop in Crandon, Wisconsin, formed by brothers, Gene, Doug, Stan, and stellar engine builder Dick Bahr. Products included performance pipes for trail sleds, and race sleds, engine builds, aero improvement products, and other specialty items.

Stan’s mild manner, intelligent response to any problem, and courteous approach to everything in life was his trademark.

They didn’t call him the “Professor” for nothing!
God Speed, Stan!
